How do I make foam shapes of my own design?
Drawing directly onto a foam sheet is not always the best idea as you cannot erase your designs if you make a mistake. To avoid this, start first by drawing your shapes onto a piece of paper. Once you are happy with your design, cut it out and use it as a pattern. Then trace the pattern onto the foam sheet and cut it out from there.
Useful crafting items that you can collect from around the house.
Large Plastic lids, like those from margarine tubs or coffee cans, can be very useful in your crafting. Not only can they act as a disposable paint pallet or glue holder, they can easily be made into stencils you can save for years to come! Simply draw the desired design onto the lid and cut carefully. You can then either trace the outline or fill in the holes.
Use a Cafeteria Tray or Baking Sheet
When cutting paper or using lots of tiny objects like jewels and sequins or even foam stickers, work over a nice big plastic cafeteria or a baking sheet to make clean-up quick and easy.
Using a Shoe Hanger
An easy way to organize smaller craft items in a small place is with a hang up, over-the-door shoe organizer. These provide a lot of pockets for storing craft supplies. The best part is that you can store quite a few items without taking up any counter or drawer space, plus you can easily find everything with the see-through pockets.
